Dextran-Induced Anaphylactoid Reaction

Abstract

|
|
Anaphylactoid reaction is very rare complication following dextran infusion, although it is obvious that every reaction cannot have been reported. The authors observed extensive bronchospasm and cardiovascular collapee following injection of Rheomacrodex before anesthesia in t´ Le patient with decreased hepatic function caused by liver abscess. The reaction developed after only a few milliliters of infusion solution had been given, and reacted poorly to vasopressors, hydrocortisone, antihistaminics, etc. Eventually the patient had expired.
